MULTAN: The heirs of the man who had committed suicide on Monday by jumping from an under-construction National Highway Authority (NHA) flyover were issued compensatory vouchers of Rs11 million on Tuesday, District Coordination Officer Multan Zahid Akhtar Zaman.
Muhammad Amjad, resident of Kumharan Wala Square had committed suicide "for not being paid compensation for his house that was demolished to make way for a flyover."
NHA had demolished his eight marla house a year and a half ago to construct the flyover on the square.
The compensation resulted in a dispute between the deceased's family members who claimed that Amjad's grandfather did not transfer the ownership of the house to anyone else.
Once the property is transferred, the maternal aunt of Amjad will also be among the heirs.
The district administration opted out from the feud and decided to let the family come to a decision.
The burial and funeral arrangements were made by the district administration.
Superintendent of Police Gulgasht Shoaib Khurram said that an FIR was lodged in order to investigate the officials who did not respond timely to Amjad's complaint.
