Abida Parveen Honoured With Lifetime Achievement Award Oct 9th 2012, 18:23 Abida Parveen needs no introduction at all; she single handedly took Sufi music to another level of spirituality and has sung some unforgettable kaafis and ghazals. Abida Parveen was honored with a lifetime achievement award in India by the Kaladharmi Begum Akhtar Academy of Ghazal. This of course is not the first award that this renowned singer was honored with; she was also awarded Pride of Performance in 1982 and Sitar-e-Imtiaz in 2005. Surely, all these awards are very well deserved. After being honored with the award from the Indian Academy Abida Parveen remarked, ""I am honored to receive a lifetime achievement award from the Begum Akhtar Academy of Ghazal. It is a proud moment." Indeed it is, we are all very proud to have been blessed with an amazingly talented singer like Abida Paveen who is not only appreciated in Pakistan but also across the border.   Abida parveen sang her famous ghazal "Laal Meri Pat Rakhiyo bala" in the ceremony too. We congratulate Abida Parveen on this achievement and wish her good luck for the future.
