Phool Nagar: 12 wounded over a property dispute

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to details, Jamil of Siddiq Nagar had a dispute with Rana Nisar over the possession of a plot. Rana Nisar along with his accomplices entered the house of Jamil and opened indiscriminate firing, injuring 12 people.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The injured were shifted to nearby hospital where condition of four is stated to be critical.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Faisalabad: 3 accused killed in police encounter

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to police sources, the accused opened fire on a police party when they were asked to stop on a picket near Jahangir More area in the jurisdiction of Dajkot Police Station in Faisalabad.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Police returned the fire in which three accused were killed. The dead included Akran Jora who escaped from police custody one day ago while two accused managed to escape from the scene. <br />&nbsp;</p>


North Waziristan: US drone hits kill 15 in Mir Ali

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>The US spy planes fired two missiles on a vehicle and another two at a house on Khaisu Road in Mir Ali in the North Waziristan, killing 15 people and injuring several others.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Panic griped the residents after the attacks as four drones are still flying in the area. It is the eighth drone attack in the area during a week.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Karachi violence claims 3 more lives

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>Target killing continues in Karachi as three more people were shot dead and four others received bullet wounds.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to details, some unidentified persons opened fire and killed two people in Khamoosh Colony locality of Karachi. The deceased were not identified yet.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Police have also recovered dead body of a man from Sohrab Goth area. Police said that the deceased was killed after torture.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Meanwhile, four people were injured during firing by unidentified persons in Defence, Hab Chowki, Garden and Northern By-pass areas of the city. The injured were shifted to different hospitals of the city for treatment.<br />&nbsp;</p>


30 killed as bus fell in ravine in Kahuta

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to details, a bus carrying a marriage party from Kahuta to Chakwal fell into ravine while taking a sharp turn near Panjar, killing 30 people and injuring several others.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Some 80 passengers were present in the bus. Rescue teams reached the site of the accident and started rescue operation. The rescue work was hampered due the darkness and difficult mountain terrain.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Army was also called in for assistance in rescue operation. At least 30 injured were rushed to District Hospital Kahuta while 20 were shifted to different hospitals in Rawalpindi.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Meanwhile, emergency was declared in Holy Family Hospital and Benazir Hospital in Rawalpindi. <br />&nbsp;</p>


Balochistan is Pakistan's future: PM Gilani

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said Sunday that he has given directions to Chief Secretary Balochistan to identify 35,000 graduates of province for providing jobs in government departments. Fifteen hundred jobs in Federal Levies Force have already been provided to the people of Balochistan province, he added.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>He said this while talking to a delegation of Pakistan Peoples Party Balochistan led by its provincial President Mir Sadiq Umrani who called on him at Governor House here today.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>He said that Balochistan is future of Pakistan and the people of the province are patriotic, talented and need opportunities to tap their potential.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Maj Gen Bajwa to take of DG ISPR today

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>According to Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) former Director General (DG) Major General Athar Abbas has retired after completing his tenure.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The new Director General Inter Service Public Relations Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa got commission from Pakistan Military Academy, Kakol in March 1984. He commanded Anti-Tank Battalion, Infantry Brigade Group and Strategic Infantry Division during his services in Pakistan Army.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa has also served as deputy military secretary of President of Pakistan and was also holder of Tangha-e-Basalat.<br />&nbsp;</p>


National Assembly to start debate on budget today

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>The National Assembly session under Speaker Fehmida Mirza will be held at 5:00 at the Parliament House to start debate on the budget 2012-13. The session will continue for a period of 20 days.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Meanwhile, the opposition has decided to continue its protest during the assembly session. Meanwhile Speaker has summoned Business Advisory Committee meeting in her chamber at 4:00 to chalk out strategy for running the budget session.<br />&nbsp;</p>


APCA announces week-long strike

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>The APCA has announced to lock down all the government offices from today in protest against non-acceptance of their demands.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>During a Press conference at the Lahore Press Club on Sunday, President All Pakistan Clerks Association rejected the federal budget 2012-13 for not implementing the minutes by the government which were settled during negotiations with APCA leaders.<br />&nbsp;</p>


Khyber Agency: Presence of polio virus confirmed

French Open: Aisam Ul Haq Rojer Jean Jukian reach quarter-finals

Federer avoids possible upset at hands of Goffin

<p>&nbsp;</p><p><br />A set and 5-4 ahead, Goffin was 30-15 up on the Federer serve but was unable to get the two extra points he needed.</p><p><br />He was then broken for the first time in the match in the next game as the Federer fightback started, ending in a hard-fought 5-7, 7-5, 6-2, 6-4 win.</p><p><br />The reward for Federer is a quarter-final clash with either Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina or Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic.</p><p><br />&quot;I came out of the qualifiers and I played my best tennis in my first three matches. Then playing Roger was the cherry on the cake,&quot; said 21-year-old Goffin.</p><p><br />&quot;I won&nbsp;t hide the fact that I had photos of Roger everywhere on the walls of my bedroom. It was like a dream for me playing him here.&quot;</p><p><br />Federer paid tribute to his opponent saying: &quot;I didn&nbsp;t know much about him beforehand, but I know him a lot better now.&quot;</p><p><br />The contrast between the two men at the start of the match could not have been greater.</p><p><br />Superstar Federer was out to reach his 32nd consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final, an Open Era record. He was also chasing a 17th Grand Slam title, and first since the 2010 Australian Open.</p><p><br />The world number 109 Goffin, who lost in the last round of qualifying, was bidding to become the first man to reach the last eight on his Grand Slam debut since Alex Radulescu at Wimbledon in 1996.</p><p><br />He was also the first lucky loser - an alternate on standby after being beaten in qualifying - to reach the last 16 of a major since countryman Dick Norman at Wimbledon in 1995.</p><p><br />The first signs that the match would not conform to what everyone expected of it appeared in the sixth game of the first set when Federer had to save three break points at 2-3 down.</p><p><br />He managed that, but after failing to put much pressure on Goffin&nbsp;s serve he found himself up against it once again at 5-6 down.</p><p><br />He saved two set points, but Goffin converted a third to huge applause from the Belgian fans gathered on the Suzanne Lenglen showcourt.</p><p><br />Goffin maintained the same punishing tempo in the second set, matching Federer in rally after rally and often getting the better of him.</p><p><br />The Belgian came within two points of going two sets up when he stood at 5-4 and 15-30 on the Swiss star&nbsp;s serve.</p><p><br />Two big serves helped Federer work his way out of that one and in the next game he got the break he was looking for as Goffin finally flung in a sloppy game with a double fault and a couple of unforced errors.</p><p><br />The third seed then squandered two set points in the next game and had to save a break back point before finally levelling the set scores.</p><p><br />Federer broke Goffin&nbsp;s serve again in the third game of the third set to move ahead in the match for the first time and another break to lead 5-2 confirmed that he was back in command.</p><p><br />Another double fault helped Federer break to start the fourth set and suddenly Goffin&nbsp;s brave challenge had deflated.</p><p><br />&nbsp;</p>


Passenger plane crashes into building in Nigeria

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>Casualty figures were not yet known, said Lagos state emergency manager Femi Oke-Osanyinpolu.</p><p><br />The Dana Air flight was taking passengers from Lagos to Abuja, said Harold Denuren, head of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.</p><p><br />Federal emergency management confirmed the crash in a neighborhood just outside the airport and said that its emergency personnel were on their way to the scene.<br />&nbsp;</p>
