I must confess that I don't have much time to watch TV on Eid but I do like to catch up whenever I can. I thought I should begin with morning shows since people who plan these morning shows know that there are a lot of viewers who might start their Eid day with these shows. I must say that it was extremely tedious sitting through these morning shows since it seemed like these shows were promoting the shows on the channels that they were representing more than actually providing people with some wholesome entertainment on a special day like Eid. Don't these channels promote their shows all through the year? Why do it on Eid as well? Why not do something that will interest the viewers for a change? And what is with all the cheap dances? All this is in no way innovative, anyone can do that. Should we not be spreading the true spirit of Eid through these shows? On the contrary I think these shows totally divert people's attention to something that has absolutely nothing to do with Eid. They were not the least bit motivating and highly disappointing.
Let's start with Good Morning Pakistan on Ary, The show on the first day of Eid was relatively better but the one on the second day seemed more of a filler, I thought this particular show was extremely lame. The way Nida Yasir introduced the viewers to the guests was almost hilarious, according to her Saud and Javeria's couple is the one "Jo buhat apna sa lagta hai, pyara sa lagata hai aur un ke dramay aise hei jo dil chahata hai roz hi dekhe". I understand that she wanted to give her guests a warm welcome but I think she went overboard. How many of you want to see Javeria and Saud's plays everyday? Certainly not me! There are so many more creative people in the business who deserve that kind of an introduction. The rest of the guests also were introduced in the same flattering way and I honestly did not feel they deserved it. Why don't these hosts understand that people know only too well who stands where and giving average actors\producers/writers such an introduction is not going to 'convert' anyone. The whole show was poorly-planned.
Hum TV is always a step ahead when it comes to dramas but unfortunately the Jago Pakistan Jago Eid special show followed the same naacha/gaana, cheap jokes here and there theme that many of the shows did and there was nothing special to it also. Is it necessary to be LOUD and irritating in order to have some fun? The second day of the show was dedicated to kids with thalassemia and started off on a good note but unfortunately soon turned into the same dancing and useless chit chat fiasco.
Utho jago Pakistan remained much focused on promoting Dr.Amir Liaquat. It was more of a continuation of the Ramzan transmission and there was barely any participation of the viewers in it. A whole show dedicated to one person on Eid is in my opinion a little unfair. The way Dr. Amir Liaquat's wife's business is promoted in every second program just puts me off.
These were the Morning Shows that aired on the top three channels on the first two days of Eid; honestly speaking I just fast forwarded most of them. Did you watch them? If you did, tell us how you felt about them.
