Review: Mere Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley: Episode 16 & 17
Oct 16th 2012, 17:24

After watching the first fifteen minutes or so of episode 16, I decided that it would be good to skip just one episode and catch up with it next Tuesday maybe. But guess what by the end of the week I started having some serious withdrawal symptoms and felt that I just had to watch it. One thing is for sure that despite of all the flaws in the storyline MDKJZM is not the kind of play that you can just stop watching. I wanted to know what was happening in Aminah's life in particular and honestly speaking had no high hopes for Arifa and Junaid after the last episode. I am glad episode 16 had a nice surprise in store, Shamim was wrong in thinking that Junaid was doing drugs and Arifa and Junaid's relation took a pleasant turn. Arifa has moved on and the couple is looking forward to starting a new life with their baby on the way…just what the doctor ordered.

I have to admit that I was a bit harsh in my last review in judging Aminah's character. After watching these last two episodes I honestly felt like the poor girl needed a break. She is too young to be going through all that she has been through and she has done a commendable job under the circumstances. I do wish that Aminah and Urooj's relationship had not completely died. But now that it is dead and buried, I guess it is time to move on. It is very true that we expect women to make all the sacrifices and hardly ever take into consideration their feelings and sentiments. Azam managed to play with Aminah's mind but she was upright enough to know better.

Zakiya's concern for Urooj obviously outweighs anything else. She knows in her heart that Aminah did not get her share of happiness from life but she also knows too well that Urooj is incomplete without Aminah. After finding out about Azam's intentions she decides to handle the office affairs herself and keeps Azam at a distance. She could of course fire Azam but then how will the story move forward!

One message that was conveyed very loud and clear in the past two episodes was that this world would be a much nicer place to live in if people would live and let live. In our society interfering in other people's private matters, gossiping about it is a hobby, something that people do to keep themselves entertained. They do not for once think how their attitude can affect other people's life.

Shamim's death was another unnecessary tragedy, come to think of it except for Abdur Rehman and Razia's daughter's death; all the other deaths had absolutely no relevance to the story. Had these people still been alive, the story could have moved forward very easily in the same direction in which it is moving at the moment.

I enjoyed all the performances in these episodes. Sarwat Gillani has done an outstanding job; I hope we will be seeing her in another play soon. Urooj's character may have taken a back seat but Shehryar Munawar is still going strong, I am really looking forward to watching him in Tanhyan Naye Silsilay and Zindagi Gulzar hai. Bushra Ansari, Alishba Yusef, Mohib Mirza, Lubna Aslam and Hamza Ali Abbasi….well all the stars have proved that they are really good at what they do. Some of the things in MDKJZM seem very far fetched and unrealistic but like I said I can't help but watch this show because it has been a good journey so far (despite of all the setbacks) and I feel somewhat attached to the characters. For now Aminah's track is what I am looking forward to the most.

So, what did all of you think about the past two episodes? Do share your thoughts.
