Review: Zard Mausam: Episode 10

Zard Mausam has always managed to hold my attention and has given me something to look forward to. Initially, the reason I started following this show was primarily due to Sania Saeed and Faisal Rehman, two very gifted actors who always have something substantial to offer. But what caught my immediate attention after watching the first episode was the well-etched characters, remarkable acting by ALL the actors and the brilliant manner in which the story has been narrated. Honestly speaking, the storyline of the play is nothing extraordinary but the way it has been put on the plate is impressive. Sania Saeed manages to steal the show every time and on the whole the play is a treat to watch, with interesting twists in the story to keep the interest of the audience alive. Zard Mausam's story is a modern day Cindrella story and the writer Rahat Jabeen and director Abis Raza have managed to narrate it in a very nice manner.

I would say that today's episode was an extension of the last two, nothing new happened but we saw a lot more of Mehru's conniving ways and just how far she can go to make Aimen's life miserable. First, she pushed Aimen to the point where she would misbehave with her and then communicated her version of the story to Waqar. The way she kicked Aimen out of the house and asserted the fact that it was her house showed that Mehru had been planning all this for a very long time and was waiting for an opportune time to take out all her piled up anger on either Waqar or Aimen. The woman is beyond negative, she is cruel and I can't wait for the prince charming to step in!

Mehru's behavior towards Aimen today reminded me of a poem "A Poison Tree" By William Blake that I read years back. Mehru seems to have been feeding her anger and hatred for Waqar for all these years and now that she has the opportunity to vent it out, it comes out as something as bitter as poison. I have to say that Mehru is a very clever woman and she most certainly knows the ways of the world, and I don't mean that in a good way. She has obviously worked very hard to gain waqar's trust and has finally attained the position where Waqar no longer listens to his darling daughter but believes Mehru more. SIGH!!! I can't help but feel for poor Aimen. It is always great to see Babar doing whatever he can in order to make Aimen feel better but he obviously does not have much of a say in the house. Mehru has turned into a very villainous character and Sania Saeed's acting is very convincing. She has proven yet again that she is a very versatile actress. Aiza Khan's acting and expressions were brilliant today and I must appreciate Yasir Shoro's acting too, it has been spot on.

While I enjoyed watching today's episode, I must say that I would really like the story to move forward now. We clearly get the message and know just how evil Mehru can be. The play needs to pick up pace now, if it is to retain its freshness. But, yes definitely looking forward to next week's episode.
